We designed, fabricated, and installed these incredible “floating stairs” to compliment the modern airy aesthetic of this home. Stringers are the key structural elements that support the weight of the steps and keep the structure solid. To create the floating effect, this project incorporates a steel-framed wall-mounted stringer with each tread firmly welded to it. Sheetrock overlays the stringer, essentially hiding it behind the wall. By laminating the treads with warm walnut material and installing a walnut handrail, we made the staircase pop against the light interior paint color, adding interest and unique appeal.
